Teeka - a going concern indeed! What an incredible show
career this girl has had. Teeka lives with co-owner/handler Gilda Goldberg, who has become my best friend and
partner in this crazy sport of dogs. Teeka is Gilda's very first show dog so she has been a major learning
experience, especially considering that Teeka is one of the most headstrong, dominant females I have ever
known. She charges into every situation headlong, with fierce determination, and demands the same fierce
determination from her handler. She never falters, never loses her concentration and never tires. What a
girl!
Mind you, her show career did start off slowly while both she and Gilda learned the art of dog showing. Even
still, she finished from the puppy classes and immediately embarked on a Specials career. Teeka has many group
placements and a group win to her credit, culminating with Best of Breed at the 2000 AMCC National Specialty
held in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her American championship came surprisingly easily, obtaining five majors in
two consecutive weekends. She went on to pick up two Best of Opposite Sex wins at AMCA Area Specialties over
heavy competition.
Teeka's high level of concentration makes her a beautiful picture in the obedience ring, but her strong will
makes her a challenge. Nevertheless, Gilda has trained Teeka to Utility level and is awaiting the right
opportunity to trial her in the ring. I think Gilda is waiting for her to mellow with age, but somehow I think
that might be a long, long wait.
Congratulations, Gilda, for all the wonderful work you've done and accomplishments you've had with this very
special girl! Thank you for a job very well done.
