Kobuk - the Man of the Moment. He lives with co-owner Gilda
Goldberg, who is his handler, trainer and conditioner, and what a wonderful job she does! Kobuk
finished his
Canadian championship with multiple Breed wins and a Puppy Group.
He picked up both required US majors and Winners Dog at the Bluegrass Specialty from the puppy class
(breeder/judge Kim Meredith and Irene Bivin), completing his American championship at the Ramapo
Specialty under
breeder/judge Bobbie Brooks. And that was just the beginning.
Shown selectively, Kobuk has repeatedly been in the top Canadian
rankings for Malamutes, consistently defeating
other higher ranked dogs on the way. He has been shown at two Booster Shows (similar to
American Supported
Entries) and has won them both. He has multiple Group wins and Group placements to his credit,
and was the winner of the Top 25 Event at the 2003 Canadian National
Specialty. After a year's rest to deal with an infected molar, Kobuk returned to the ring at six
years of age to obtain two Bests in Show, a Reserve Best in Show and his UKC Championship. It will
be interesting to see what other achievements are in his
future.
Gilda has done a great job with Kobuk in obedience as well,
attaining both his Canadian and American Companion Dog titles. His
obedience training has continued and he has one leg of the required
three towards his Companion Dog Excellent.
Gilda even did some weight pull training, and Kobuk did very well at
his first weight pull at the Harrisburg Specialty.
Kobuk's wonderful front assembly, beautiful head, gorgeous coat and
perfect feet, along with his outstanding
pedigree, deserved to be passed on and he got his chance with my Eko (Ch Kipmik's Hot To Trot FM).
This match
proved to be a wonderful one, although it only produced three girls.
All three girls have completed
their Canadian championships. One of the girls
(Kita) has won two American Specialty Grand Sweeps, a Best of Opposite Sex Booster win
and a
Puppy Group. Another (Kiara) took first place in the
Open Bitch
class at the 2003 AMCA National Specialty. We are very happy to see
that his fine qualities have been passed on to his girls, and look
forward to more successful litters in the future. |
